Operations Team
Carrie Hensley
Director of Business Operations
Carrie was born and raised in western North Carolina. She moved to Knoxville in 2015 to work at the University of Tennessee. She worked for the University of Tennessee for almost eight years before transitioning into the real estate world in March of 2023. Her husband, Steven, who has been in real estate for six years, encouraged her to make the switch to help manage the business operations of their real estate team and oversee their rental properties. She specializes in developing processes and systems for the VFL Real Estate Team to ensure their clients experience a smooth transaction by creating easy to understand expectations from start to finish.
As a property manager of a diverse portfolio, Carrie’s abilities to assess property values and stay knowledgeable of local market trends sets her apart. While she initially started with short-term rentals, she has since transitioned their properties to long-term rentals. This role has allowed her to further enhance her skills of communication, problem solving, and providing excellent customer service which she brings into her every day real estate responsibilities.
Beyond her work, this mountain gal has a passion for the outdoors. Whether she’s hiking in the mountains, fishing on the lake, or hunting in the woods, her adventurous spirit knows no bounds. Beyond personal enjoyment, Carrie is a committed advocate for wildlife conservation and active in community service. She shares this adventurous life with her loving husband and fur babies. Together, they love to spend time on the lake and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers.

Barbara Newton

With over a decade in the industry and more than 5,000 transactions completed, Barbara has built her career on a strong foundation of integrity, precision, and leadership. She’s had the privilege of mentoring and managing high-performing teams and thrives on transforming complex processes and documentation into smooth, client-centered solutions. Her work is driven by a client-centered approach, where clear communication, accuracy, and peace of mind are top priorities. Whether helping a brand-new agent with their first transaction or assisting a seasoned professional with a complex deal, she’s committed to providing dependable, knowledgeable support every step of the way.
Her peace and purpose are found outdoors and in service to my community. I am a wife and mom to 4 (3 adults and 1 in high school). As the spouse of a veteran and mother of two active-duty Airmen, I am passionately committed to supporting the military community and proudly serve on FIRE-TEAM TENNESSEE, an organization dedicated to the fight against veteran suicide.

Kat Monroe
Transaction Coordinator
A proud Texan from Austin and a lifelong Longhorns fan! But will cheer for the Vols as long as they aren’t playing the Horns. I’ve been lucky enough to share life with my partner of 11 years, and together we’re raising our beautiful daughter and one very hyper dog.
Family is everything to me, and I love making memories with the people I love. My husband and I enjoy watching and playing sports together. You can usually find me with a good book, listening to music, spending time with friends, or cooking.
I’m all about enjoying the little things, surrounding myself with good people, laughing, and just trying to be the best wife, mom and friend I can be.
Aaron Johnston
Transaction Coordinator
An East Tennessee native and veteran. Aaron joined the United States Marine Corps directly out of high school and after traveling the world for a while decided to move to Knoxville to be with family.
As a Transaction Coordinator for SCH his responsibilities are to make sure our clients' experience is as smooth and stress-free as possible. While not at work he enjoys hiking through the mountains, painting, and trying to teach his cat quantum mechanics.
Kimberly Monroe
Accounting
Kimberly brings more than 10 years of accounting experience to SCH Real Estate, with a background span of bookkeeping, financial operations, process development, and accounting systems. Throughout her career, she has developed a reputation for being detail-oriented, resourceful, and especially skilled at identifying ways to make financial processes more organized, accurate, and efficient.
At SCH Real Estate, Kimberly supports the company’s accounting operations while helping strengthen the processes and systems behind the numbers. She enjoys digging into the details, solving problems, and finding practical ways to make things work better.
Kimberly approaches her work with equal parts professionalism, curiosity, and humor. She believes accounting should provide useful information that helps a business make better decisions, not just numbers on a report.
Outside of work, Kimberly enjoys cooking, creative projects, spending time with her family, and an arguably unreasonable amount of coffee. She is always learning something new and is usually happiest when she has a project to work on, a problem to solve, or something cooking in the kitchen.
